Our Mission: Satellite Housing provides affordable, service-enriched housing that promotes healthy and dignified living for people with limited options.

Satellite Housing is a community based non-profit housing organization, formed in 1966 with the goal of addressing the unmet housing and service needs of Oaklands ’s low-income populations.  Four decades later, Satellite has developed and manages 22 developments for low-income seniors, families, and adults with special needs throughout the East Bay, serving over 1,500 tenants.

Satellite has developed these buildings with funding from the HUD Section 202 and 236 programs, tax credit programs, local community groups, cities, counties, foundations, and banks.  Our properties are located in Berkeley, Fremont, Newark, Oakland, Pittsburg, and Walnut Creek.

Satellite has been successful in fulfilling our mission due strong community ties and long-term committment to quality housing and services. Satellite’s Board of Directors reflects a diversity of trades but a common passion for community service and the facilitation of an organizational vision that focuses on the needs of Bay Area residents.
