Fremont Oak Gardens Awarded The 2006 Best Seniors Project

November 2006-AFFORDABLE HOUSING FINANCE magazine readers voted Fremont Oak Gardens as the Best Seniors Project for the Nation’s Best Affordable Housing Development. Fremont Oak Gardens was one of 32 finalists featured in the August issue of AFFORDABLE HOUSING FINANCE where readers were instructed to vote online. The seven categories include family projects, historic rehabilitation/preservation projects, master-planned/inclusionary zoning projects, mixed-use projects, seniors projects, special needs/SRO projects and urban projects.
Fremont Oak Gardens was one of five finalists in the Seniors Projects category. Other projects are located in Cleveland, Ontario (California), Gilbert (Arizona) and Las Vegas. All finalists were selected on various characteristics which include: impact on the community by adding to the affordable housing market, influence in community revival, creating a new approach of financing or developing housing, using cost-effective design and/or construction and displaying creative problem-solving.
The formal public presentation of the 2006 Readers’ Choice Awards took place at a luncheon on November 3rd at the Hyatt Regency Chicago following the conclusion of AHF Live: The 2006 Tax Credit Developers’ Summit.
Fremont Oak Gardens is “featured in the November issue of AFFORDABLE HOUSING FINANCE as well as in a special issue that will be designed to have long-term impact and showcase the achievements of our industry. This special issue, HOUSING FOR ALL AMERICANS; THE BEST AFFORDABLE HOUSING DEVELEOPMENTS OF 2005-2006, will be published in the winter and will be distributed to government and opinion leaders to impress upon them the high quality of affordable housing today,” wrote Christine Serlin, Executive Editor of AFFORDABLE HOUSING FINANCE, Hanley Wood Magazines.
